Adventures in Driving

So, it was a grey Saturday morning. I was dropping Petra off for her voice lesson, one town over from my church. I was driving my car, a car that looked like this:

(Only, a little saltier.)

I was stopped at a light, about five cars back, thinking about the cool couple I was about to meet, for the second time, to talk about their April wedding. I noticed, to my left, a police officer-- a woman! Always interested in noticing the women out doing all kinds of jobs. She was giving a ticket to a driver, another woman (alas).

Having nothing else to do until the light turned green, I glanced in my rear view mirror. I saw, hurtling towards me, about 10 feet behind me, and not slowing down, a big old sedan, driven by a big young guy.

There was nothing to do. I ducked. Hands over head. Waited for the impact.

It came. It was hard. Now my car looks just a little bit like this:

(Only, as I said, a little saltier.)

::sigh::

Because, I got nothin' else to do this week except talk to the fine people at Great Big Friendly Insurance Company, that's why!

Hoping you are o.k., even if your car is not. I would imagine you might be having some neck or back pain? Prayers headed your way, as of course this couldn't have come at a worse time of year!

Did your car make a sound like the accordian?

Hope you are as well as well can be, good luck with the big happy insurance company.

Ouch. I pray that you weren't too seriously hurt and that your insurance negotiations go smoothly.

I hope you don't look like the accordian. Bummer about the accident. May your dealings with the insurance company go smooth and quickly.

Thank you friends. Thanks to the fact that it's a Car of Steel (Volvo) I sustained not one injury (I was a little achy on Saturday night, at the church One Great Hour of Game Shows fundraiser). But I am absolutely fine. Car (affectionately known as Gwyneth), not so much.

Poor Gwyneth. I think she's done for.

Last night I drove a Prius and a Scion boxy thing. I feel that I've been unfaithful.

Wyld, Yes! It did! Just like when an accordion is hanging in the air, breathing in and out, "Daaaa, deeeee, Daaaa, deeeee." Like that.

Oh, poor honey! I hope you are okay. Go check in with the chiropractor, even if your back and neck feel all right. Whiplash is a nasty thang. (((Mags)))
