Heard Around These Parts (the Web)

A church in the throes of anxiety about change forms "The Back-to-Egypt Committee."

Sorry. I realize this may be a Christian (or Jewish) in-joke. After Moses led the Israelites out of slavery, they quickly became disgruntled. No food, no water. "Remember the great food in Egypt?" "Did you bring us out here in the desert to kill us, or what?"

Thus, the snarky minister-type (like me) who's dealing with a congregation that hates and mistrusts change, might be tempted to say, Hey, why don't you people go and form a Back-to-Egypt Committee?

Does that make any sense whatsoever?

Looking for hymns sunday I found one you might find appropriate for this committee to use as a theme song: "When Israel was in Egypt's Land"..."

Hey - it's called the session at my church, too! What a coincidence!
